Why PHP is Scripting Language?

The programming languages are basically compiler-based and the scripting language is interpreted based. This simply reveals that PHP doesn’t have to be compiled in the process of being interpreted. The compilation process, however, entails translating a high-level language into a machine language.

As for scripting, PHP is the language that doesn’t need to be compiled. Rather than, the interpreter will execute the instructions directly without converting them first into the machine instructions. This is very different from the programming as they first have to be compiled into the machine language before it is being interpreted.

This generally happens because PHP must be combined with other languages and other components in order to come up with a complete system that is better.

Reasons for PHP being a Scripting Language

Usage of a language is a typical characteristic of most of the scripting languages that exist today. They cannot fully rely on themselves in order to build an application. There is a need for this language to be blended with some other applications. For instance, PHP must be blended with HTML and JavaScript.

The scripting language is generally very easy to code. The user just has to simply type only a few lines of code. This is just another reason that will list the PHP as a scripting language.

Whenever it comes to a programming language, they create files that are generally stored and even transferred from one device to another. The files are usually in the .exe format. Whereas, PHP does not create the .exe file.

In the list of the distinct features of scripting languages is that they run inside another program. They also don’t run independently. In this case, PHP can only be executed in a web server or browser. 

PHP is generally interpreted within another language such as HTML before being interpreted again by the browser or another software.
